We were staying in downtown Long Beach and were looking for a place to eat breakfast. We were on a limited timeline so we were hoping to find a restaurant close to the hotel that had vegetarian/vegan options and pretty quick service and The Potholder Cafe definitely delivered. It was not super busy when we went on a Monday around 10:30am, and we were seated quickly. It has a diner vibe with a beach theme. Lots of tables and booths to choose from. They had a great sized menu with lots of diverse options. We were very happy to have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options to choose from. We were able to order quickly and I was very surprised how fast the food came out. I opted to go with the veggie benny which was good but I was a little surprised that there was a slice of american cheese between the english muffin and the veggies/egg. Not sure if that's a regional thing or just specific to this restaurant, but everything was very tasty and the staff was attentive. I would definitely recommend eating here and I would come back if I was in the area.

Excellent attentive service. I ordered the tuna melt. It was pretty good. I also took a bit of my sister's burger. It was excellent. The curly fries and ranch dressing were also really good. This is a great place to stop in the Long Beach area. There's even a parking lot.

I visited this wonderful little café for the first time today as a downtown Long Beach resident. The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the entire staff were so attentive to our needs. The blueberry pancakes were plate sized and absolutely scrumptious! Love the surfboard/beach decor. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend!

Portions were plentiful. Flavor was on point. Everything was absolutely outstanding. Service was extremely good. Friendly. Great food. Fair price for today's standards of what you get you pay for. !

Service: friendly and very attentive. We never had to wait for long before someone came over to check on us. Very walkable location and gets busy during lunch time. We arrived before 11am and there were plenty of seats. Wow Factor: They have an 18" pancake!! Ordered: the Grand Prix. It came with their hashbrowns and toast. It was delicious but their hasbrowns were not my favorite as they were crispy or thin enough. I was hoping for the Denny's style. Otherwise, very delicious and would come back again!

Very nice experience! Food large portions , service is fast and the people are kind . We sat on the patio and it was nice and calm . The Bronx

We came here specifically for the giant pancake, and it was very good! It had a slight cinnamon flavor to it which we all enjoyed and was very thick and cakey. We did have a little bit of trouble finding it on the menu because there are so many items and the text on the menu is kind of difficult to read, but we did eventually find it. I also had a dish with chorizo, eggs, avocado, beans, and sour cream and it was awesome. We tried the stuffed French toast which was also really delicious. Our server was extremely attentive and all the staff were very diligent about filling out coffees and checking in on us. The restaurant is a typical diner with lots of booths and seating and is quite large. They have seating both inside and outside.

This is our go to every year during the Long Beach Marathon. The food is AMAZING! Well worth the wait, and you will definitely have a wait.

This restaurant is a good place to convene with a group as the place is large, menu varied and moderately priced, and parking available . The downside is that it can get a tad loud. It's conveniently located close to the LB courthouse(s), city offices and PD. On the bad side, it closes generally M-F at 2. The menu is almost a throwback to the 70's with basic sandwich and breakfast options. My friend and I checked out their sandwiches. I had the BLT with a side of (back to the 60's!) cottage cheese to boost my protein. Sandwich was okay but not enough moisture to it; lack of tomato or lack of mayo or both? Cottage cheese - what can one say! It was what I ordered! My friend opted for the Turkey sandwich with a side salad that looked amazing for a side salad! She enjoyed both. We left with clean plates and free ice tea refills.
